Cities are shifting from top-down development of new areas towards transformation and densification of existing ones. In order to reach sustainable solutions in areas where property is dispersed and interests differ on issues like real estate, public space, energy and mobility, you need on-going and active collaboration with the different local stakeholders.
A new way of working is essential to effectively manage these increasingly complex processes and achieve maximum social impact. Over the past eight years we’ve tested and proven our collaborative urban development method in Amstel III, one of Amsterdam’s largest and most complex transformation districts.
Our method is based on three pillars: (1) holistic process and stakeholder management, (2) inclusive participation and community building and (3) the disclosure of environmental data to support fact-based decision making. Combined with our offline toolkit and award-winning and fully interactive online platform we enable all stakeholders to directly share, discuss and secure plans, data, ideas and resources to collaborate on local projects.
