Prof. Dr. Tobias Kollmann holds the Chair of E-Business and E-Entrepreneurship at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Since 1996, he has been dealing with scientific issues relating to the Internet, e-business and e-commerce. As co-founder of AutoScout24, he was one of the pioneers of the German Internet start-up scene and electronic marketplaces. He received a special prize at the UNESCO Entrepreneurship Award "Entrepreneurial Thinking and Acting" for his special teaching concept in this area.
Since 2013 he has been chairman of the advisory board "Junge Digitale Wirtschaft" at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and has been unanimously re-elected several times in this function.
From 2014 to 2017, he was also the state representative for the Digital Economy in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2012 he was voted "Business Angel of the Year" and according to the magazine Business Punk (issue 02/2014) he belongs to the 50 most important minds of the start-up scene in Germany. The editors of politik & kommunikation (issue 117/2016) rank him as one of the most important players in digitalization in political Berlin.
In November 2017, Brandwatch counts "Prof_Kollmann" among the TOP-10 of the most influential Twitter authors around the topic "Digital Transformation" and "Digital Leadership". According to the FAZ, he has been one of the 100 most influential economists in Germany since 2018 and has "weight in media, research and politics".
