Director / Architect Sven Thorissen (Krefeld, Germany, 1970) studied architecture at the TU Braunschweig, ETH Zurich and TU Delft, where he received his master degree in 1998. The experience he gathered in private and public organizations throughout his professional career covers architectural design, project development and team-management. Previously he worked for MVRDV as project-leader on projects like Unterföhring Park Village, the Frosilos, Copenhagen, Buurt 9 in Amsterdam and the Markthal in Rotterdam.
For MVRDV, he supervises the studio for projects in the German speaking countries. Besides his work for MVRDV, he acted as visiting critic at the Academie van Bouwkunst, Rotterdam, the ENSA Belleville, Paris and the Hogeschool Leiden. Sven was a board member of the Voedseltuin Rotterdam and member of the expert panel for Urban Agriculture in the Netherlands. He contributed to a number of publications about inclusive city design, future housing, circular economy and productive urban landscapes.
